Weston-super-Mare MP John Penrose officially opened the new GP Surgery at St Georges in Worle last week (Friday, 23rd July).
The new practice, which covers Worle, Milton, Kewstoke and Wick St Lawrence, has four consulting rooms and is staffed by two GPs and two nurses, catering for 3,000 patients over the next two years. The surgery is part of a programme to provide better access to healthcare for local residents. Earlier this year a new clinic was opened in central Weston to provide accessible healthcare for people living in the town’s central ward and a GP walk-in centre is now located at Weston General Hospital.
John said: “I’ve been arguing that Weston needs more GPs for years, so I was delighted to be invited along to cut the ribbon at the official opening. Like the GP walk-in centre at Weston’s Hospital, and the clinic in central Weston that also opened earlier this year, it will provide better access to local healthcare services. It’s also set to expand after two years, so it should be able to cater for more patients in future too.”
