John publishes Declaration of Interests

Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Weston-super-Mare John Penrose has today published details of his ‘Declaration of Interests’, in line with Ministry of Justice guidance. Every Conservative candidate at the General Election will be doing the same, so that local people can have more details about the people they’re being asked to vote for.

In his declaration, John lays out his positions of responsibility in local organisations, including Governor of Weston College and President of Weston’s YMCA, as well as laying out other interests which were already published in the ‘Register of Member’s Interests’ from when he was Weston’s MP.

John said: “When people vote in this election, they need to know exactly who and what they’re voting for. The declaration process makes the whole system much more transparent and I’m delighted that every Conservative candidate will be submitting these forms, even though it’s not legally required.”

Talking about his declaration, John said: “Most of the details in my declaration have been public for years, so it doesn’t contain any surprises although some people may be surprised by the number of local organisations I’m involved in.”

John’s declaration is as follows:

A. Other Paid Jobs (apart from being an MP)

None. I do not intend to take any additional employment beyond my work as an MP, if re-elected.

B. The holding of positions of responsibility in some types of organisations

I do not intend to acquire any further property or land if re-elected

(iv) Shareholdings

Logotron Ltd; Educational Software Company, of which I am an unremunerated non-executive director. I intend to continue to hold these shares if re-elected. I do not intend to take any additional shareholdings if re-elected.

D. Tax Matters

I support the next Conservative Government’s requirement that anyone who sits in either House will be required by law to be a full UK taxpayer.

I confirm that, for the tax year 2008/09, I have not claimed to be, or been treated as not resident, not ordinarily resident or non-domiciled in the UK for tax purposes.

E. Any other interests

I am an unremunerated non-executive director of Logotorn Ltd; an educational software company. I intend to continue this role if re-elected.
