Former Tourism Minister John Penrose has hailed moves by local tourism businesses like Hilton Cadbury House Hotel, Mendip Outdoor Pursuits, Mendip Snowsport Centre and Lyncombe Lodge Hotel and Restaurant to team up with North Somerset Council and Visit England in a press and radio campaign promoting local tourism called ‘Rural Escapes’.
John said: “As Tourism Minister, I always said it was essential for local businesses to form partnerships with their local Councils and Visit England to bring visitors to their area, so I’m delighted the principle is being applied successfully right here. Tourism in Weston and the villages, and in North Somerset overall, is leading by example!”
